Zeus Flip with a chain reaction of coins and Aztec Totem with a multiplier ladder: two new InOut games on Coins.Game, with mechanics, limits and scores.

Zeus Flips Coins, Aztecs Build a Tower: Two New InOut Games

Old gaming magazines loved handing out scores. We decided to bring back that tradition and test two fresh InOut releases in the Coins.Game lobby. Both came out recently, both open in demo with no sign-up, and the two are so unlike each other that putting them in one review would be odd if it were not for the shared provider. Read the dossiers, look at the scores and decide whose invitation to accept.

Zeus Flip: the thunder god with a coin

Dossier

  • Provider: InOut Games.
  • Format: 5 reels, 3 rows, 10 fixed paylines.
  • Bet: from $0.12 to $100.
  • Max win: $100,000.
  • The hook: Coin Flip, a chain reaction of coins.
  • RTP: not stated in the rules.

How it plays

The reels hold four coins (Zeus, a trident, a Spartan helmet and Pegasus), the familiar cards from ten to ace, a wild and a bonus scatter. Lines pay left to right from three matching symbols. But the game truly wakes up when all three positions of one reel are taken by identical coins: that switches on Coin Flip. Every coin on that reel "gives birth" to one more of the same kind and drops it into a random spot on the other reels.

If two reels start Coin Flip at once, everything doubles: each creates three extra symbols. Identical coins on both give six new coins of the same type, different coins give six wilds. If the new symbols build another reel of three identical ones, the chain goes on for as long as it can. Line wins are calculated twice: before the chain reaction and after it, on the final layout.

The symbols pay generously. At a $0.5 bet, five Zeus coins on a line give $10, that is 20 bets. The trident pays 16 bets, the helmet 12, Pegasus 10, and the cards from 3 to 7 bets for five of a kind.

The bonus

Three, four or five scatters trigger 6, 10 or 20 free spins. The big news: in free spins Coin Flip is guaranteed on every spin. The bet cannot be changed during the bonus.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: a clear chain mechanic you can see with your own eyes.
  • Pro: a guaranteed Coin Flip on every free spin.
  • Pro: a high win ceiling, $100,000.
  • Con: RTP is not stated in the rules, so you play blind on that parameter.
  • Con: the chain starts only when three identical coins land on one reel, and without that it is an ordinary 10-line slot.

The editors' score

Mechanics 8 out of 10, atmosphere 8 out of 10, clarity 9 out of 10. These are subjective scores after reading the rules, not from payout statistics.

Aztec Totem: a tower with character

Dossier

  • Provider: InOut Games.
  • Format: a tower of stone heads, a "Play" button and a "Cash out" button.
  • Bet: from $0.12 to $200.
  • Max win: $30,000.
  • The hook: three multiplier ladders and the option to cash out at any moment.
  • RTP: not stated in the rules.

How it plays

This is not a slot at all. You press "Play", and the heads of the totem appear one after another: green, yellow, red and black. Collect three heads of one color and the multiplier of that color takes a step up its ladder. The green ladder starts with 3.9x and 12.5x and leads to a bonus, the yellow one starts with 2.5x, 7.7x and 16x, the red one with 1.55x, 4.85x and 10x, and there are more steps above.

The black heads are dangerous. When three black ones are collected, the last multiplier burns. That is why the main button here is not "Play" but "Cash out": you can take your win at any moment. The earlier you press it, the safer the result. The longer you wait, the higher the possible multiplier and the greater the risk of losing progress.

There is also a partial cash-out button and a bonus buy. If you reach the last step of the green ladder, the bonus starts: the game itself hands out a random multiplier and a random number of free multiplier spins, each of which can raise the total.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: the game is fully steered by your decisions: when to cash out, when to risk it.
  • Pro: three different ladders give three different tempos.
  • Pro: a maximum bet of $200 for those who want scale.
  • Con: RTP is not stated in the rules.
  • Con: it is easy to linger on the "Cash out" button longer than planned and lose progress.

The editors' score

Mechanics 8 out of 10, controllability 9 out of 10, clarity 7 out of 10. Subjective scores based on the rules as well.

Editors' tip: decide in advance at which multiplier you will press "Cash out", and press it there, even if the next step seems close.

The score summary

Who gets which

  • You like chain reactions and free spins with a guarantee. Zeus Flip.

The same authors made the Halloween release we wrote about in the fear ranking with Rump and Halloween. And if you like the idea of "cash out in time", look at the breakdown of Aviamasters 2 Halloween, where the plane also crashes or lands.
