How to Bet in Roulette

Roulette seems simple: bet on any number or color and see where the ball lands. But if you are tired of straightforward bets, see this guide on how you can bet elsewhere and try something new.

How to Bet in Roulette

Inside Bets

The difficult kind: low chance to win, but the highest payouts.

  • Straight Up: A bet on a single number (including 0). Payout — 35:1.

  • Split: Two adjacent numbers. Payout — 17:1.

  • Street: A row of three numbers. Payout — 11:1.

  • Corner (Square): Four numbers that meet at one corner. Payout — 8:1.

  • Six Line: A bet on two adjacent rows (six numbers). Payout — 5:1.

Outside Bets

More frequent winnings, but the payouts are not so impressive.

  • Even Money Bets: Payout — 1:1. These are Red or Black, Even or Odd, and Low or High (1–18 or 19–36).

  • Dozens: The 1st, 2nd, or 3rd group of 12 numbers. Payout — 2:1.

    Bet on Dozens

In this shot, you can see the first dozen highlighted.

  • Columns: One of the three vertical columns. Payout — 2:1.

In this roulette, they’re horizontal, and we have just highlighted the first column.

Announced / Call Bets

Common in European and French Roulette, these focus on specific sections of the wheel:

  • Voisins de Zéro (Neighbors of Zero): 17 numbers surrounding the zero.

  • Tiers du Cylindre (Third of the Wheel): 12 numbers on the opposite side of the zero.

  • Orphelins (Orphans): The remaining 8 numbers not covered by the others.

  • Neighbors: A bet on one number and the two numbers on either side of it on the wheel.

In this roulette, these bets are located in the right corner. You can see here that we picked Orphelins.

By the way, you can play both European and French roulette at Coins.Game. So, if you’re ready to try some new bets in roulette, welcome!
